For detection of Escherichia coli in recreational waters by the membrane filter method. This agar is used in conjunction with a urea substrate to detect urease production. After addition of the urea substrate, Escherichia coli appears as yellow-yellow/brown colonies when viewed under a fluorescent lamp.
